- Is the power or gas supply on? β Check switchboard/gas meter. Call us if unsure.
- Is the tank leaking? β Pooling or rust = potential replacement needed.
- Has Energex done any recent work? β May affect hot water recovery.
- What tariff are you on? β Off-peak supply may heat overnight.
π½ BLOCKAGES
- Is it isolated to one room? β Local blockage = manage by not using fixture.
- Gurgling sounds? β May indicate early blockage. Try plunging + boiling water & vinegar.
- Overflowing drains? β Likely main line blockage. Call us.
- Attempted plunging? β If no improvement, call us. Use liquid Draino only if needed.
π§ UNCONTROLLABLE LEAKS
- Can you see the leak?
- Try to identify source (pipe, tap, roof, etc).
- Can you shut off the water meter?
- Call us for phone guidance if unsure.
- Is it hot or cold water?
- Hot = turn off hot water unit to keep cold water running.
- Contain the leak
- Use buckets/towels to limit damage and call us ASAP.

- Can you isolate it?
- Turn off gas at meter/bottle if safe.
- When did you notice it?
- Helps us assess urgency.
- Natural gas or LPG?
- Look for meter or bottle to confirm.
- DO NOT use switches or flames.
- Ventilate and call us immediately.

- Stains or bubbling on walls/ceilings? β May indicate internal leak.
- Lifting floors or damp carpets? β Look for signs of moisture.
- Musty smells or mould? β Suggests hidden moisture build-up.
- Does it only leak when raining? β Possibly roof-related.
- Spike in water bill? β Could indicate underground leak β we use high-tech tools.
πΏ HOT WATER β BASIC CHECKS
Gas or power active?
Reset breakers/check meter or bottles.
Big gas storage tank?
Pilot light may need relighting (see instructions which will be on the front cover panel. Behind the panel is a step-by-step guide. If you have tried several times, then call us).
Instant unit?
Try full reset using manufacturer steps.
- Turn of power and pull lead off
- Turn water valve off at the unit (usually green or blue in colour)
- Turn any hot tap inside property on (yes, no water will come out as we will be controlling it from the unit.
- Turn off Gas (Yellow colour)
- Wait for a minute.
- Turn Gas valve on
- Plug lead into power point and turn on.
- Turn water valve on
- The unit should reset and work
- Check taps inside if itβs hot.
- If no, then repeat these steps again.
- If still no luck, please call us.
Settings changed?
Verify temperature is set correctly.
